
Grant Doak is the Deputy Minister of Manitoba Family Services and Consumer Affairs. Family Services responsibilities include child care, child protection, community living, provincial welfare and service delivery, among other social services. Consumer Affairs responsibilities include consumer protection, landlord/tenant issues, the Property Registry, Vital Statistics, and other related services.
Grant began his career with the Manitoba civil service in 1981. He worked for a number of years in financial management and later as an analyst specializing in policy development, evaluation, strategic planning, and intergovernmental relations. He was Executive Director of the Policy and Planning Branch in Family Services and Housing during which time he co-chaired the Federal/Provincial-Territorial National Child Benefit working group, negotiated a new Labour Market Agreement for Persons with Disabilities, and helped develop the federal/provincial Early Learning and Child Care Agreement. Grant later served as Assistant Deputy Minister of Finance and Administration and was a member of the Manitoba Housing and Renewal Corporation Board.
