Jim Carr has served as founding President & CEO of the Business Council of Manitoba since 1998. He began his career as an oboe player with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and went on to become the WSO’s Director of Development before accepting a position as Executive Director of the Manitoba Arts Council.

Jim wrote for the Globe and Mail and Winnipeg Free Press before being hired as Executive Director of External Relations for the University of Winnipeg. In 1988, he was elected to the Manitoba Legislature and became Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party.

Jim is currently a board member of the Canada West Foundation, the Winnipeg Airports Authority, St. Boniface Hospital and the Arthur V. Mauro Centre for Peace and Justice at St. Paul’s College.
